Sound Quality
Especially for music listeners, the overall quality of sound is a massive factor in finding your perfect pair of earbuds. There are various factors that impact a pair of earbuds’ sound quality.
BOMOW
Not only are they a spectacular bang for the buck running under $50, but they’re also the near-perfect choice for runners and gym-goers, as well. These earbuds produce pretty good sound quality for their price. You’ll also appreciate how loud they can get. Even at max volume, they remain clear without distortion. Not only is it great sound for music, videos, podcasts, and audiobooks; Phone calls are very clear, as well. The frequencies are well balanced and Equalized very well. Overall, I give it an 8.8 out of 10 for sound. However, the audio is slightly negatively impacted while ANC is initiated.
TaoTronics EP008
The TaoTronics EP008 earbuds have a pretty good sound quality with a distinct midrange. However, both the bass and highs cut through the mix pleasantly, as well. People who prefer listening primarily to the vocals and lead instruments will be a huge fan of the sound quality they produce. It’s both detailed and clear. Overall, you will be pleased with the sound quality.
AKAMATE
First off, these earbuds produce dramatically better sound quality than their price. As a matter of fact, we believe it’s one of the best sound earbuds on this list. The max volume gets very loud while remaining very clear without distortion or noticeably compressed frequencies. It has a considerable amount of bass while the mids and highs still shine. Music, videos, and audiobooks deliver a crisp and rich sound that’s hard to beat at the price. Phone call quality and sound over-delivers, as well.
Overall, the AKAMATE has the best sound quality of the three.
Comfort
The ability for earbuds to remain comfortable for extended periods of time without itchiness, annoyance, pressure, or ear pain. Considering many people use earbuds for commute, air travel, or work; Comfort is a vital factor.
BOMOW
These earbuds are incredibly comfortable, possibly one of the more comfy pairs on this list. Both earbuds fit the ear snugly while not overbearingly tight. You are easily able to wear them for extended periods. I give them a 9.7 for comfort.
TaoTronics EP008
These earbuds are relatively comfortable: not the very best, but not bad at all. You may need to take a break from them every few hours to rest your ears. I give them a 7 out of 10 for comfort.
AKAMATE
Not only does it have great sound quality, but you will also be highly pleased with its overall comfort. Most people put them on and forget they’re even in. You will easily be able to wear these for extended periods without fatigue. The band connecting both earbuds is smooth and feels delightful, as well.
Overall, the BOMOW is the most comfortable of the three.
Build Quality
What good are your amazingly sounding earbuds if they break in a few months? The overall durability and longevity are crucial for any investment you make. Especially for those who need earbuds for commute, it’s important they’re able to withstand vigorous traveling conditions consistently.
BOMOW
In terms of build quality, they outperform their price range. Built solid and durable, I can easily see them lasting a very long time. They are sweat-resistant, making them safe for running and workouts. It’s very slim and lightweight for easy portability. Overall, I give them a solid 9 out of 10 for the build.
TaoTronics EP008
With the favored combination of being both lightweight but robust, these earbuds have a very good build quality for the price. They are wired with a gold-plated 3. 5mm audio jack. In the middle of the cord, you will find the mini rectangular ANC box with the on or off switch to activate the noise cancelling. The earbuds themselves are pretty sturdy and able to last a long time. Overall, I give them a solid 7.8 for the build.
AKAMATE
Unfortunately, the AKAMATE slightly lacks in its build quality. The earbuds are slightly bulky, which may become a nuisance after a while. A few people claim the non-retractable wire is either too small or becomes annoying, as well. However, most people say these earbuds last a long time while some get issues within the year. I give it a 5 out of 10 for the build quality.
Overall, the BOMOW has the best build quality of the three.
Noise Isolation/ Active Noise Cancelling
Don’t be confused between active noise cancelling and noise isolation earbuds. They are both entirely different. Noise-cancelling technology is very unique. Unlike noise-isolating earbuds, noise-cancelling earbuds do not eradicate outside noise by physical insulation. Within the ear cups, they have a mini microphone that picks up the outside environmental noise. It then triggers a frequency entirely opposite to the outside ambient noise. Thus, canceling out most outside ambient sound.
BOMOW
The BOMOW has decent active noise cancelling capabilities for the price range. Not the best on the list, but not too bad either. If you’re looking for mild noise cancelling while still being aware of you’re environment, these earbuds are a great choice. I give it a solid 6.8 for active noise cancelling.
TaoTronics EP008
The active noise cancelling abilities will surprise you. They block out a significant portion of ambient noise once ANC is activated. For that matter, these are one of the better earbuds in the price range. Going by TaoTronics claims, they’re designed to eradicate up to 30db of environmental noise. You will be more than satisfied with the ANC capabilities for its price.
AKAMATE
The AKAMATE has very good active noise cancelling for its price. Supposedly, they claim it reduces outside ambient sound by roughly 25dB. Once ANC is initiated, they eradicate the majority of the lower frequencies in the environment. Most people are highly satisfied with the ANC capabilities for the price point.
Overall, TaoTronics EP008 has the best active noise cancelling of the three.
Battery Life
Battery life is an overlooked subject when speaking about over-ear earbuds. Obviously, the only earbuds that have a battery life are those which are wireless. Many earbuds on the market do not have wireless capabilities. But for those who do, a more extended battery-life becomes a convenient factor.
BOMOW
With 12-hour battery life, you wouldn’t have to worry about using them all day long.
TaoTronics EP008
These earbuds are wired and don’t have Bluetooth wireless capabilities.
AKAMATE
With only 1.5 hours to achieve a full charge, they give you 8 hours of battery life.
Overall, the BOMOW has the most extended battery life.
